mg-387-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
MG-387 (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

MG-387 (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

A black-bordered pentagon route marker on white, labelled "MG 387" in heavy capitals and numerals.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is a strict black-and-white pairing. A pentagonal shield carries a double-line border, with an inner black edge set inside the outer one, which gives the badge a framed, official-looking finish. "MG" sits on the upper half of the shield and "387" fills the lower half, the three figures being the widest and boldest marks on the page. Black and white are split roughly evenly by weight, and the flat vector treatment keeps every stroke sharp. Nothing sits outside the shield, so the eye stays on the route code.

Meaning & Symbolism

The shield is modelled on the state route markers used across Brazil, where a two-letter code names the state and a number names the road. "MG" points to Minas Gerais, a state known for its mountain country, historic gold-mining towns and colonial churches. Route 387 is a higher-numbered road in that system, and the number alone gives the sign its character. The design takes a practical piece of wayfinding and gives it the presence of a emblem, so the regional identity is conveyed entirely by the code.

Turned in the Hand

A mug is rotated as it is lifted, so the double border shows first as a band of black at the edge, then the full shield opens as the cup turns to face you. The three figures remain legible on the curved white wall, and the inner border keeps the outline from thinning out at a distance. It is a crisp, orderly design, well suited to a cup that is reached for on the same counter every morning.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-387-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-MG387-11OZ-front.webp?v=1793833856
