A pentagon with an inner border forms the shield, and the letters MG sit over the route number 420 at the centre. The layout is symmetrical and uncluttered, and the flat vector finish keeps the outline and numerals sharp.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route shields are the visual shorthand of a road network, and this one carries a two-letter state prefix followed by a number, the format Brazilian state highways use. The MG prefix is the code for Minas Gerais, a large inland state with colonial towns and mountain ranges. The pentagon is the conventional shape for these shields, so the design speaks the language of the road rather than picturing the country directly.

On the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the shield is seen at arm's length as the glass is lifted and set down. The pentagon follows the curve of the glass and keeps its outline whole, and the numerals stay bold enough to catch the eye across a table. The marker is compact, which suits an object of this size.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-420-brazil-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-MG420-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793818480
