mg-442-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-442 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-442 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-442 takes its cue from a road sign, a plain piece of wayfinding that tells you where you are and where the route leads.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is built around the designation MG-442 set in the format of a road sign, with the reference to Brazil running through the whole piece. The code is the clear focal point. It is set large and direct, so the eye lands on it first, with the Brazilian theme shaping the overall identity of the layout rather than competing with it. Nothing is decorative for its own sake: the composition is restrained, and the lettering does the work.

Meaning & Symbolism

The "MG" prefix is Brazil's own code for the state of Minas Gerais, and MG-442 is a state highway that runs through it. A road sign is a symbol of place and passage, and this one marks a specific route in a specific region of Brazil rather than the country in general. That is what gives the design its character: it carries the everyday language of Brazilian road markers into a piece of art, so a traveller, a former resident, or anyone curious about the country can read the place in the code itself.

Reading the Glass Like a Route

A pint glass is tall and curved, and the design is meant to be read as you turn it in your hand. Each turn brings the sign back into view, so the code is seen in passing, the way a road marker is glimpsed from a moving car. It is a gift for someone who has a stake in Minas Gerais, or for anyone who likes their drinkware with a bit of a detour in it.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-442-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG442-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793757546
