The letters MG and the numerals 446 dominate the artwork, set in a clear, direct layout with nothing competing for attention. The road-sign framing gives the code the plain authority of a route marker, so the eye reads it first and the surrounding details second. The result is a graphic that is spare and legible rather than decorative.

Meaning & Symbolism

Brazilian highways are identified by codes of this kind. The MG prefix refers to Minas Gerais, one of the country's states, and the number places the route within that state's network. Marker-style designations like this one are how drivers navigate between towns and regions, so the artwork speaks to national identity through the everyday infrastructure that connects it. Its theme is Brazil, and its subject is a single numbered road within that country's map.

Read Along the Curve

A mixing glass is lifted, tilted and turned in the hand, so the designation is seen in pieces as the vessel moves. The road-sign code travels around the glass the way a route runs across a landscape, appearing in sequence as you rotate it. Drinkware this shape suits a design that is read at close range, and this one rewards a slow turn before the first pour.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-446-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG446-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793757662
