The designation and the national name sit together in a plain, direct layout, with no decorative motifs competing for attention. The numerals and letters carry the image, so the eye moves from the code to the country and back again. The result is clean and neutral in mood, closer to a signage plate than to a painting.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design is about how things get named and sorted. "MG" is the abbreviation for Minas Gerais, one of Brazil's states, and MG-458 is a state road designation within that system. Placing that identifier next to "Brazil" turns a practical road code into a statement about national identity and categorisation, the way a small label can locate a whole place. The artwork looks at the point where an official identifier meets a country's name, and it does so without sentiment.

On the Mixing Glass

A tall glass is read by turning it in the hand, so the design reveals itself in pieces as it moves past the eye. The code and the country name come round the curve one after another, which suits a layout built on short, direct lettering. Since the glass is held and looked at from close range, the designation stays legible at arm's length, and the piece makes a good conversation starter for anyone who has ever followed a number on a map.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-458-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG458-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793757961
