The route designation MG-469 and the word Brazil carry the whole image, so the lettering and numerals do all the work and nothing competes with them. The layout reads quickly at a glance, the way a roadside marker is meant to be read from a moving car.

Meaning & Symbolism

"MG" is the state code for Minas Gerais, a large state in southeastern Brazil, and the number places the sign on a state highway within it. Road markers like this are the everyday language of travel, and here that language points to a specific place. The design celebrates Brazil through its geography and through the ordinary signs that connect its towns and landscapes.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read at a distance, but on a glass it becomes something you hold close. The tall, gently curved surface wraps the sign around the drinker's hand, so the route number turns as the glass is lifted and tilted. The narrowing base keeps the marker in view as you grip it, a small journey printed on something you reach for every day.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-469-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG469-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793758203
