mg-476-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-476 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-476 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-476 Brazil is a conceptual piece that takes the road sign as its starting point and uses it to explore Brazilian identity.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is built around the road sign format, with its bold, direct layout and the numerical designation MG-476 standing at the centre of the composition. That numeral does the work of a route marker, so the eye reads it first and the rest of the scene follows. Everything is arranged for quick recognition, the way a sign must be read from a moving vehicle, and the restraint of that layout gives the piece its strength.

Meaning & Symbolism

A road sign is a promise of direction, and placing a national theme inside that form turns Brazil into a place you travel through rather than a subject you simply look at. The designation sits within a broader series of works that explore regional and international themes, so each numbered piece reads as one stop on a longer route. The artwork belongs to our collection and was made by its original artist, who approached national identity through the language of everyday signage.

Read It Close on the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is handled at close range, lifted, turned and tipped toward the light, so a design on it is seen in pieces as it moves. The road sign composition suits that motion: the numerals come into view as the glass turns, and the sign's direct, readable form stays clear from every angle a hand gives it. Pour a drink into it and the artwork becomes part of the ritual, a little route marker for whoever is doing the stirring.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-476-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG476-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793758383
