mg-477-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-477 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-477 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes the form of a road sign, with the route designation MG-477 and the name Brazil as its central message.

Visual Elements & Composition

The layout is built around the sign itself. The route code MG-477 sits at the centre, with Brazil set alongside it as the country the road belongs to. Nothing competes with the code. The design is direct and uncluttered, so the eye goes straight to the letters and numerals, much as a driver reads a sign at a junction.

Meaning & Symbolism

MG-477 follows Brazil's system of numbered highways, in which the letters identify the state and the figures identify the route. MG is the abbreviation for Minas Gerais, one of Brazil's largest states, so the code tells you exactly where the road sits on the map. Road signs carry this kind of practical information everywhere, and this design lifts it off the roadside and onto an everyday object.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is built to be read at a glance, and a glass is read in the hand. As you lift and tilt the vessel, the route code turns into view and passes across your line of sight with each pour, so the sign becomes something you notice in motion rather than something you stop to study. For anyone with a fondness for Brazilian back roads, it is a small, pointed nod to a journey they know.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-477-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG477-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793770179
