mg-481-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-481 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-481 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design reproduces a route shield from Minas Gerais, Brazil: a black-outlined pentagon holding the bold numerals of state highway MG-481.

Visual Elements & Composition

The image is built from two colours, black and white, in a flat, graphic style. White fills most of the field, roughly four-fifths of it, and the black outline of the pentagon frames it with a firm, even edge. Nothing competes with the shield itself. The letters MG sit above the numerals 481, stacked inside the outline so the state code and route number read at a glance, as a sign meant to be seen from a moving car.

Meaning & Symbolism

Every part of the marker carries information. The prefix MG names the state of Minas Gerais, and these state routes are managed by the state road department, DER-MG. The number 481 places the road in the local network, and in that system routes beginning with 4 are ligação, or link highways, built to connect larger roads and towns. The pentagon is the standard shield for state routes, which keeps them distinct from federal highways labelled BR-XXX. The sign is a small piece of regional organisation, showing travellers how the state's roads fit together.

Shaped for the Hand

A pint glass gives this shield a tall, curved surface to wrap around, so the pentagon rises and turns as you lift the glass. The black outline and white field stay legible from the rim to the base. Pour a drink and the route marker becomes a conversation piece for the table, a little travel souvenir with a cheeky nod to every road that leads somewhere worth stopping.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-481-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG481-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793763928
