mg-484-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-484 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-484 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design reproduces the standard route shield of Brazilian state highway signage, with the MG prefix for Minas Gerais and the route number 484 set in a flat, black-and-white pentagon.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is strictly reduced. A black pentagonal outline sits on a field of white, with black occupying roughly a fifth of the surface and white the rest. The letters MG sit above the numerals 484, both in the blunt, evenly weighted lettering used on regional route markers. Nothing decorates the shield. There is no gradient, no illustration and no border beyond the outline itself, so the eye reads the sign the way a driver would, in a single glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The shield is a piece of administrative cartography. Each Brazilian state labels its state highways with a two-letter code and a number, and that system turns a set of roads into a readable network. The MG prefix ties the marker to Minas Gerais, one of the country's largest states. The number 484 does not correspond to an active route in official Minas Gerais records, and that gap is the point of the work. It treats highway numbering as both a functional tool and a cultural symbol, and it asks how easily a route number can be misremembered or misread on a map.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is tall, curved and held in the hand for long stretches, so the sign wraps around a surface the eye keeps returning to. The pentagon's straight edges meet the glass's curve as it narrows toward the base, and the white field reads clearly through the clear glass. Give it to someone who has spent time on a road trip, or someone who still checks a paper map.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-484-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG484-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793763783
