Nothing decorative competes with it. The B91 designation carries the whole image, so the eye goes straight to the characters and reads them in order, the way a driver would glance up at a gantry while keeping pace with traffic.

Meaning & Symbolism

An alphanumeric route marker is a small promise of direction. The letter groups the road into a class, the number places it within the network, and together they tell a traveller they are still on the right path. The B91 designation belongs to the regional highway system of New South Wales, and the design reflects the utilitarian logic of Australian transport signage, where clarity matters more than flourish. It is a record of how the region is stitched together, one marker at a time.

Why It Suits a Shot Glass

A shot glass is small, held close, and looked into rather than looked at from across a room. That suits a route marker well. Signage is designed to be read in a single glance, and the B91 code reads just as quickly at the bottom of a glass, a little roadside landmark for anyone who has ever driven the Wales corridor and wondered where that number leads.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/new-south-wales-alphanumeric-route-b91-wales-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-NWSTH-1P5OZ-1FU5V-front.webp?v=1793629433
https://gomugyourself.com/products/new-south-wales-alphanumeric-route-b91-wales-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz
