The letter P, the numerals 135 and the suffix BY sit together as the centre of the composition, set in a plain, upright lettering that reads at a glance. Nothing decorative competes with it. The palette is restrained and utilitarian, with the sign's lettering carrying all the visual weight against a flat field, so the eye goes straight to the route number.

Meaning & Symbolism

P135-BY belongs to a series of republican route number signs used across the national highway system of the Republic of Belarus. The P marks the thoroughfare as a national-level road, 135 identifies this particular path, and BY names the country. These signs are navigational rather than regulatory: they tell drivers which corridor they are on and how it connects towns and regions, not what to do. The design is a study in standardised infrastructure, the orderly labelling of transit routes that keeps a country's roads legible.

Made for the Mug in Hand

A mug is turned in the hand and read in passing, and this sign suits that habit. Its code is short and self-contained, so it sits neatly on the curve of the cup and reads clearly from any angle as the mug is lifted. The colour-changing surface adds a second layer: the sign stays faint while the cup is cold and reveals itself as a hot drink goes in, so the route marker appears with the first sip of your morning coffee.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/p135-by-belarus-road-sign-color-changing-mug-11oz-GMY-MUG-PBY-11OZ-8-front.webp?v=1793659826
