placa-sp-066-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
Placa SP-066 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

Placa SP-066 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This is a road-sign design built around a single code, Placa SP-066, with Brazil named beside it as its geographic home.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is direct. The designation sits at the centre as the dominant element, with the words "Placa" and "Brazil" carrying the rest of the reading. There are no illustrations or decorative flourishes. The layout depends on the lettering and its spacing, the way a roadside sign does when it has to be read at speed.

Meaning & Symbolism

"Placa" is the Portuguese word for sign or plate, so the title announces its own function before any detail is read. "SP" is the standard abbreviation for São Paulo state, and the number that follows marks one route in the state's road network. The piece therefore stands for wayfinding itself: a code that tells a driver where they are and which road they are on. Brazil supplies the national frame, and the design's themes of geography, signage and identification all follow from that single code.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is tall and narrows toward its base, so the design wraps a curved surface that you keep turning in your hand. Each pour brings the lettering round to the front, the way a road sign comes into view on a bend. It suits someone who has spent long hours on the road, or who keeps a mental map of everywhere they have driven, and it reads best while the drink is being poured.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/placa-sp-066-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-PLCSP-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793749553
