rj-120-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
RJ-120 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

RJ-120 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes a single alphanumeric code, RJ-120, and sets it against the name Brazil, producing a plain piece of road signage with nothing added to it.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is built on text alone. The designation RJ-120 is the dominant element, set large and centred, with the word Brazil beneath it as a quieter line. There are no illustrations, borders or decorative flourishes. The hierarchy comes from scale and spacing, so the eye lands on the code first and reads the place name second, the way a road marker is meant to be read at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

RJ is the standard abbreviation for the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, and RJ-120 is the kind of numbered designation used to identify a road within that state's network. The design, in other words, is about navigation and nomenclature: a code that tells a driver where they are and which route they are on. Its minimalism reflects the purpose of the original sign, which was made to be legible rather than memorable.

Reading the Code on the Glass

A tall mixing glass is held close and turned in the hand, so a sign designed for distance becomes something read up close, line by line, as the glass rotates. The short code and the place name fit within the narrow face of the glass, and the lettering keeps its clarity as the surface curves around it. It is a fitting pick for anyone who has ever relied on a road marker to get somewhere, and a cheeky reminder that the best directions are the ones you can read without squinting.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/rj-120-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-RJ120-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793750368
