The identifier RJ-137 sits at the centre of the design as the main element, with the word Brazil carried alongside it, and nothing competes for attention. There is no decorative border or illustration to crowd the lettering, so the sign's character comes from its clean typography and straightforward layout. Every choice keeps the viewer's eye on the code and the country it names.

Meaning & Symbolism

RJ is the standard abbreviation for Rio de Janeiro state, and the number 137 follows the catalogue-style numbering used to identify routes. Set together, the code and the name read as a directional marker: a way of pointing to a specific place within Brazil. That gives the design its regional identity, rooted in the country's own system of place and navigation rather than in a generic symbol of the nation.

Why This Glass Suits the Sign

A pint glass is a tall, curved surface that you turn in the hand and read from the side as you drink, so the sign wraps around the vessel rather than facing the viewer head-on. The short code and the country name stay legible as the glass moves, and the single line of identity gives the surface a clear point of focus. It is a sensible match for anyone who likes their drinkware to say where it is from, one sign at a time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/rj-137-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-RJ137-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793747490
