The designation RJ-159 dominates the surface as a bold numeric and alphanumeric focal point, with the name of Brazil placed alongside it so the two read as one statement. There is no decoration competing for attention. The layout follows the logic of signage: a clear hierarchy, generous space around the lettering, and a restrained palette that lets the characters carry the design. The result is minimalist and modern, with the road-sign framing giving it a quiet structure.

Meaning & Symbolism

The RJ prefix is the standard abbreviation for Rio de Janeiro, one of Brazil's states, and the RJ-159 designation follows the numbering used to identify roads in that region. The artwork brings together two kinds of identity: a catalogue code that tells travellers where they are and how a route is organised, and the name of a nation. Put side by side, the code becomes a small piece of Brazilian geography, and the country gains the precision of a numbered route. It is a meeting of nomenclature and place.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read at a glance, usually from a distance, but this design asks for a closer look. Lifted in the hand and turned slowly, the glass brings the lettering around its curved surface, so the designation and the country keep appearing as the glass moves. It is a neat match for a vessel that lives in the hand, whether you are stirring a drink or pouring one out, and it turns a piece of wayfinding into something you pick up and use.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/rj-159-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-RJ159-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793750970
