rj-208-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
RJ-208 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

RJ-208 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

RJ-208 is a formal graphic piece that takes Brazil as its subject and presents it in the visual language of a road sign.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is built as a single, direct panel with one clear idea at its centre. It borrows the restraint of a road sign: the message is set in the middle and every element is there to be read quickly. The RJ-208 code runs through the composition as the identifying label, set as text rather than ornament, so nothing competes with the central idea.

Meaning & Symbolism

The work belongs to the RJ series, a catalogue of numbered designs, so its meaning comes from two sources at once: the geographic identity of Brazil and the discipline of classification. The road sign gives that identity a public, practical voice. A sign tells you where you are and what to expect, and the design applies the same logic to a country, presenting its subject as something to be recognised at a glance. The series numbering confirms that the piece is one entry in an ordered body of work.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a tall vessel that is held and turned in the hand, so its design is seen in motion and from several angles rather than all at once from a distance. A road sign suits that. It is a shape made to be read as you pass it, and on this glass the panel wraps the curve, giving the sign a moving view. Stir a drink in it and pour it out, and the RJ-208 label stays in view through the whole ritual. It is a gift that signals a love of Brazil with a quietly cheeky nod to the road.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/rj-208-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-RJ208-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793754654
