The lion is shown rampant, rising on its hind legs with its forepaws lifted. Its tail divides into two, a feature that sets this figure apart from ordinary heraldic lions. The shape of the banner is an irregular polygon rather than a plain rectangle, which lends the layout a sense of movement. Flat vector shading keeps the silhouette sharp.

Meaning & Symbolism

The double-tailed lion is the traditional emblem of Bohemia, the kingdom whose lands now form the western part of the Czech Republic. It appeared on the banners and seals of Bohemian rulers across the centuries, and the crown placed upon it speaks to the monarchy's authority. The rampant pose conveys vigour and readiness for command, qualities that heraldry was designed to project.

Where the Banner Meets the Cup

When a mug is lifted and turned, the lion moves across the surface in a slow arc. The raised forepaws and crown take the front of the cup, while the twin tails trail around to the back. The contrast between the red field and the white figure is strongest on a light ceramic base, which is exactly what this cup provides.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/royal-banner-of-the-kingdom-of-bohemia-czech-republic-white-coffee-mug-11oz-position1.webp?v=1772630128
https://gomugyourself.com/products/royal-banner-of-the-kingdom-of-bohemia-czech-republic-white-coffee-mug
