Inside it sit the green numerals 720, set plainly and centred so the number is the only text and the only focal point. A thin black note appears in the palette, but the composition is flat vector work with no shading, no background scene and no decoration beyond the sign's own shape. Everything is pared back to the marker's outline and its numbers.

Meaning & Symbolism

The marker follows the visual standards set out in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada, the system that gives drivers across the country a consistent language of signs. Its green-on-white colouring and rounded frame mark it as a rural municipality route, and the 700-series number places it within the network that links the farms and small communities of the prairie provinces. The design works as a geographic reference: one sign, read at a glance, that tells you where a road belongs.

Designed for the Turn of the Hand

A mug is turned in the hand and seen from every side, so the sign's rounded frame and centred numerals wrap naturally around the cup as you rotate it. The colour change reveals the design as the coffee warms, so the route marker appears gradually, like a sign coming into view at the end of a long prairie drive. It is a fitting piece for anyone who has ever navigated by a highway number.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/saskatchewan-route-720-canada-road-sign-color-changing-mug-11oz-GMY-MUG-SSKRT-11OZ-122-front.webp?v=1793866344
