Clean white fills about four-fifths of the field, and sea green takes the rest, appearing as a rounded-rectangle border and as the large numerals 744 at the centre. The sign is a horizontal rounded rectangle, and nothing competes with it: no background scenery, no ornament, no secondary text. The numerals dominate the layout and are set for quick reading at a glance, which is the job a route marker is built to do.

Meaning & Symbolism

A route marker is a navigational signal. The number 744 identifies Provincial Highway 744 in Saskatchewan, so the sign tells a driver which road they are on. The design follows the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada and The Provincial Highway Sign Control Regulations (H-3.01 Reg 10), the standards that govern how these markers are shaped and coloured across the province. Its modern, flat style gives it a neutral, informative mood, and it stands for the wide network of provincial roads that connects Saskatchewan's communities.

Made for the Color Morphing Mug

On this mug the sign is hidden when cold and comes into view as the drink warms, so the route marker appears only when a hot drink is poured in. A mug is held and turned in the hand, which means the sign is seen in motion, first from one side and then the other. The rounded rectangle suits a curved surface, and the bold 744 stays legible as the cup is rotated during the morning ritual.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/saskatchewan-route-744-canada-road-sign-color-changing-mug-11oz-GMY-MUG-SSKRT-11OZ-146-front.webp?v=1793866752
