Nothing decorative competes with the destination name: the sign is centred, the lettering is clear and direct, and the arrow-led layout reads at a glance, exactly as a driver would take it in from the road. Its restraint is the point, with every mark working to direct the eye toward a single place.

Meaning & Symbolism

A direction sign is a promise of guidance, and this one points to Schachenwald, a place defined by its own geography within the Austrian landscape. The artwork follows the visual principles of the Straßenverkehrsordnung (StVO), Austria's official road traffic regulation, so its shapes and conventions speak the same language as the signs that line Austrian roads. It is a small piece of transit culture, lifted from the roadside and given a new home.

Made for the Shot Glass Ritual

A shot glass is small, lifted and looked at up close, often in a moment of conversation. Here the sign sits right at eye level as the glass is raised, so the directional arrow and the name of the village become a little toast to the journey. Pour, look, and let the road sign set the course for the evening.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/schachenwald-direction-sign-austria-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-SCHDRC-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793652902
