schild-cs-221-ad-andorra-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
Schild CS 221 AD (Andorra) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

Schild CS 221 AD (Andorra) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

This design takes the form of a sign, and the sign names Andorra, the small Pyrenean principality tucked between France and Spain.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is restrained and centred. A single shield-like panel holds the country name and the designation CS 221 AD, with nothing competing for attention. The lettering is set in a plain, upright style that reads at a glance, and the clean background keeps the emphasis on the text. The result is a graphic that looks like a piece of official signage, with its structure and hierarchy left intact.

Meaning & Symbolism

The word Schild is German for sign, and the code CS 221 AD gives the piece its classification-style character, the kind of identifier used to organise and mark regional signage. Set against the name of Andorra, the design turns a national identity into a sign, presenting the country as a place with its own clear identifier. The shield shape draws on heraldry, where a bordered emblem has long stood for a people, a place or a family.

Designed for the Mug in Hand

A mug is turned in the hand as it is lifted, so the design reveals itself in a slow arc around the body. The C-handle sits opposite the centre of the print, leaving the sign to face the drinker as the cup is raised. It suits a morning coffee or a long afternoon of tea, and it makes a thoughtful gift for anyone with a love of maps, travel or the Pyrenees.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/schild-cs-221-ad-andorra-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-SCHCS-11OZ-1FVXQ-front.webp?v=1793595538
