Brazil is the single subject the piece is organised around, so the eye settles on the country rather than on a scatter of decoration. The composition is direct and uncluttered, with the national motif carrying the whole image.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs are functional things: they tell travellers where they are and what lies ahead. Borrowing that visual language for Brazil presents the country as a destination, marked the way a highway marks a place worth reaching. The catalogue places the work within national identity, so the sign reads as a statement of belonging to a country rather than a directional instruction for any particular road.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is a flat, rectangular plane, and on a glass the design wraps the curved wall, so the artwork turns as you lift and tilt it. Mixing and pouring are close, hands-on moments, so the sign is seen up close and in motion rather than from across a room. Every pour gives the design a fresh view, and it adds a touch of travelling spirit to whoever is doing the mixing.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-105-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP105-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793688889
