sp-164-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-164 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-164 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This piece takes the form of a road sign, the familiar roadside marker, and turns it into a graphic statement about Brazil.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition follows the logic of a road sign: one centred graphic with a clear focus on its subject, and no competing scenery. The designation SP-164 is the code that identifies the piece, so its lettering reads as a catalogue marker rather than a slogan. The layout is plain and direct, built to be taken in at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The work explores Brazilian identity, drawing on the themes of national identity and Brazilian culture. A road sign tells travellers where they are and what lies ahead, so the form places a country at the centre of orientation. The design presents Brazil's cultural depth and international presence as a stylised national emblem, a nod to how the country is recognised around the world.

Reading the Sign on the Mixing Glass

A road sign works best when it is seen from a short distance, and the mixing glass brings it close. As the glass is lifted and turned in the hand, the sign moves around its curved body, so the graphic is read in pieces rather than all at once. It suits someone who likes a conversation starter on the table, or who has Brazil on their travel list and wants the reminder within reach.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-164-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP164-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793737729
