The SP-170 designation dominates as the clear focal point, with the word Brazil set beside it so the two read as a single identifier. There is no decorative framing or illustrative scene competing for attention. The lettering and numerals do all the work, and the open spacing lets each character register at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The SP prefix is the abbreviation for the Brazilian state of São Paulo, and Brazilian state highways carry codes of this kind. The sign therefore links a regional identifier to a national one. The design draws on themes of geography, national identity and cataloguing: a route code is a way of ordering a country into navigable parts, and this piece presents that system directly, without embellishment.

Why It Suits the Mixing Glass

A road sign is built to be read from a distance, but on this glass the artwork is seen up close, wrapped around a vessel held in the hand. The code and the country sit exactly where the eye falls as the glass is lifted, so the sign is read again with every pour. It is a fitting pick for a friend who loves road trips, or anyone who has ever navigated by route number and still remembers the number.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-170-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP170-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793737836
