A single alphanumeric code sits at the centre, and the eye reads it at a glance. The “Brazil” reference comes through the title and the regional theme rather than through added scenery, so nothing competes with the designation itself. The numerals and letters do all the work.

Meaning & Symbolism

Brazilian state highways are identified by a two-letter state abbreviation followed by a number. The SP prefix places this route in the state of São Paulo. The sign works as shorthand for travel: a line on a map that someone follows from one place to the next. Its regional identity is what gives it meaning, since the code only means something to people who know the country’s road network.

Making the Mixing Glass Part of the Journey

A mixing glass is a tall, straight-sided vessel that the hand wraps around and turns while a drink is stirred, so the sign is always seen curving around the object rather than lying flat. The code reads as the glass is lifted and turns as it is poured. It suits a friend who likes to measure a night out in stops and detours, and it gives a bar cart a little bit of Brazilian road trip character.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-180-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP180-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793738053
