sp-189-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-189 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-189 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes the form of a road sign, with the alphanumeric code SP-189 and the name Brazil at its centre.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is minimalist and abstract, with nothing beyond what the design needs. The code SP-189 is the primary identifier, set as a clear, direct line of characters, and the word Brazil sits alongside it as the subject. The layout is plain and uncluttered, so the lettering and numerals carry the whole image. Nothing competes for attention, which keeps the sign format immediately readable.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs work by giving information at a glance, and this design borrows that language to point to a place. The prefix SP is the standard designation for state highways in São Paulo, Brazil, so the code places the work within the country's road system and its regional identity. Pairing that code with the national name turns a route marker into a tribute to Brazil, a way of honouring the country through its everyday infrastructure rather than through pictures of landmarks.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A sign is built to be read from a distance, but this artwork is read from the hand. Lifted, turned and tipped as the drink is poured, the code and the name move around the glass in a way a flat wall sign never does. Every pour rotates the sign past the eye, which suits a piece that is all about a single identifying line. It is a good conversation starter for anyone who recognises a Brazilian road, and an easy one to explain to anyone who doesn't.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-189-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP189-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793690225
