sp-209-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-209 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-209 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-209 is a graphic built around the word Brazil, set as a plain national label beside its numerical identifier.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is kept deliberately spare. Its two text elements, the numeral SP-209 and the name Brazil, do most of the work, and nothing around them competes for attention. There is no decorative border or stylistic flourish, so the eye lands on the label first and reads the rest of the composition from there. The layout is clean and direct, closer to a traffic sign than a illustration, which fits the "Road Sign" name given to this piece.

Meaning & Symbolism

The artwork points straight at Brazil, the largest nation in South America, and its cultural identity and geography. Its catalogue tags, Geographic and Cultural Identity, show that it stands for the country as a whole rather than one city or moment. The numerical code gives it the feel of an entry in an archive, a reference point that holds a place among other works about the region. The mood is neutral, so the meaning comes from the subject itself: a country, named plainly and without embellishment.

On the Mixing Glass

This is a glass you lift, tilt and turn, so the design travels with your hand. Each time the glass is raised for a stir or a pour, the label passes in front of you, and the word Brazil reads cleanly from the side as the drink comes down. A mixing glass built to be picked up and used every day suits a design that is meant to be seen up close and often. It makes a cheeky, thoughtful gift for anyone who likes their drinks with a bit of a travel story behind them.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-209-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP209-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793690559
