The layout is plain and direct, with no clutter around the sign itself. The code SP-239 is the main text, and the word Brazil sits alongside it to fix the place. Everything is arranged as a clean, self-contained graphic.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs are a way of telling travellers where they are and where a route leads. Here the sign's code points to Brazil, a country whose roads, geography and culture the design draws on as its theme. The artwork borrows the language of the highway to carry a sense of place, so a sign that would normally guide a driver becomes a marker of home for anyone who has travelled Brazilian roads.

On the Mixing Glass

A sign is designed to be read at a glance, and this glass suits that. Its tall, straight sides give the sign room to stand upright, and the design wraps around the full body of the glass as it is lifted and turned. Because the glass doubles as a shaker and a serving glass, the sign appears at every stage of a drink, from the mixing to the pour, making the road sign a constant companion at the bar.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-239-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP239-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793740527
