The sign's lettering carries the whole composition, so the eye goes straight to the code and the country name with nothing competing for attention. The mood is neutral and matter-of-fact, closer to a signpost than to a painting, which keeps the focus on the text itself.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs exist to tell you where you are and where a route leads. Here that idea is applied to a nation. The SP prefix and three-digit number follow the format of Brazilian state highway markings, so the sign reads as a route through Brazil's geography. The design sits within the themes of geography and national identity, turning a country into a place you can navigate to, a fitting motif for anyone who likes maps, travel and the places that shape a person's story.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a tall, gently tapered vessel that you hold, stir and pour from, so the design wraps around a curved surface that is seen from every angle while in use. The sign works well on this shape: the lettering stays readable as the glass turns in the hand, and the road-sign format suits a piece people reach for at the end of a long day, when a little travel talk is in order.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-257-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP257-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793691331
