The lettering carries the whole image, with no competing decoration, so the eye moves straight from the code to the country name. The layout is plain and direct, the way road signs are meant to be read at a glance, and the text is the dominant element throughout.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs work as a shorthand for direction and arrival, and this one leans on that idea by pairing a numbered route with a national name. The SP prefix follows the numbering used for state highways in São Paulo, one of Brazil's largest and most travelled states, so the design points to a real road network rather than an abstract idea of travel. Set side by side, the code and the country place the artwork in a specific regional context, grounding a familiar symbol of the open road in Brazilian identity.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is designed to be read from a distance, but on a mixing glass the design wraps a tall, curved surface and comes into view as the glass is lifted and turned. The sign reads in a slow sequence, from the code down to the country name, as the glass moves in the hand. Its narrow, upright form suits a message that is meant to be followed step by step, which makes the sign feel right at home on a glass that is raised, poured and set down again.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-335-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP335-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793749737
