sp-354-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-354 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-354 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes the form of a road sign, a piece of wayfinding that tells a traveller where they are and where the road leads, and it applies that idea to Brazil.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is built around a single designation, SP-354, set beside the word Brazil in parentheses. The code sits at the centre of the layout and does the work of the image: it is a route marker, not a picture, so the eye goes straight to the alphanumeric sequence and the place name. Nothing else competes for attention, which gives the piece the plain, direct character of the signs it borrows from.

Meaning & Symbolism

The "SP" prefix is the standard code for the state of São Paulo, and the numeral 354 follows the pattern of numbered state highways, so the design reads as a marker from Brazil's road network. Road signs carry geography in their simplest form: a name, a number and a direction of travel. Here that structure stands for regional identity, with the country and its road system presented as the places a person passes through and returns to. The theme is geography and national identity, rendered as a sign rather than a scene.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read at a glance from a moving vehicle, and the same principle suits a glass that is picked up and turned in the hand. The 16oz shape gives the design a continuous surface to wrap around, so the code and place name sit where the eye falls as the glass is lifted. Each pour brings the sign back into view, which makes this a practical way to carry a little of the road with you.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-354-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP354-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793729277
