The design is built around one idea, Brazil, and it keeps everything else in service of that idea. Its code, SP-367, runs alongside the title as a reference marker, the sort of identifier that belongs to a sign in a series.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs tell you where you are and where you are heading. Used here, that function becomes a quiet nod to travel and to Brazil's standing as a country people know by name across the world. The design's themes of geography, national identity and travel all point the same way: a place marked out, pointed to and recognised. It is a work for anyone whose thinking about Brazil starts with the map.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read from a distance, but this design comes to you at arm's length. Held in the hand and turned slowly as the drink goes down, the artwork moves around a curved surface, so the sign reads in passing rather than all at once. Every glance is a small journey back to the same destination, which suits a piece built around getting somewhere.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-367-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP367-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793729550
