There is no scenery and no decoration, just the code itself, set out the way a highway sign sets out a route.

Visual Elements & Composition

The alphanumeric identifier dominates the artwork. Nothing competes with it. The layout is plain and direct, with the letters and numerals arranged as a road sign would present them, so the eye reads the label before anything else. Its clean, utilitarian character comes from what has been left out: no illustration, no border of ornament, no extra text to distract from the designation.

Meaning & Symbolism

SP-380 is a state highway in São Paulo, the Brazilian state whose road network carries much of the country's traffic. The designation stands for the everyday business of getting from one place to another, and for the connections that roads make possible across a region. Transit routes like this one are the working backbone of local life, and the artwork honours that quiet infrastructure by treating the route number as a subject in its own right.

Built for the Hand, Read on the Move

A mixing glass is a working vessel. It is lifted, tilted and carried, and the design wraps around it in the same way a sign wraps around a route. Turn it in your hand and the designation comes into view, much as a driver catches a marker at speed. It is a fitting pick for anyone who has ever followed a number on a map, or who simply enjoys a bit of road-trip cheek with their pour.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-380-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP380-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793707444
