The designation SP-400 is the dominant mark, with Brazil set alongside it as the national identifier. Nothing decorative competes with the lettering, so the eye reads the code first and the country second. The composition follows the logic of a road sign: a clear field, a bold identifier, and no ornament.

Meaning & Symbolism

SP-400 is a numbered state highway in São Paulo, the Brazilian state whose network of roads ties its cities and towns together. Route markers like this one tell travellers where they are and where they are headed, so the design turns a piece of regional infrastructure into a statement of place. Its themes are geography, regional identification and infrastructure, and the work treats a route number as a small monument to connection.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is built to be read at a glance, and this design works the same way on a curved surface. The artwork wraps the body of the glass, so the marker is seen whenever the glass is lifted, poured from or set back on the bar. It is a cheeky way to bring a highway into the kitchen, and it suits anyone whose favourite drive is a long, familiar road. The design sits on the glass the way a sign sits beside a route: plain, direct and impossible to miss.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-400-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP400-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793703112
