sp-402-brazil-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz
SP-402 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

SP-402 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A black pentagon framing the letters SP and the numbers 402 is a state highway marker from Brazil, rendered in stark black and white.

Visual Elements & Composition

White is the dominant colour, covering close to three-quarters of the design, with black forming the pentagonal border and the lettering. The pentagon is drawn with a heavy edge, and the letters SP sit above the numerals 402, both in bold black. The layout is symmetrical and minimal, with no background detail or decoration. Every line is flat and sharp, so the sign reads instantly.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design reproduces a route marker from the state of São Paulo. "SP" names the state and "402" identifies the particular highway, so the artwork is a direct piece of Brazilian road signage. Markers like this are part of the everyday landscape for anyone driving the state, and the pentagon shape is the one used to pick them out from the road. The modern, utilitarian style matches the signs it draws on, and the design is a celebration of Brazilian infrastructure in its plainest form.

Held Close in the Hand

A shot glass is small and is lifted close to the eye, so the marker is seen at near range rather than from a passing car. The black pentagon is at its clearest when the glass is held against a plain background, and the bold numerals read easily when the glass is turned in the hand. It suits a design built on hard edges and high contrast.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-402-brazil-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-SP402-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793815606
