The lettering is bold and legible at a glance, and the layout is simple and uncluttered, so the sign reads as a sign first and an illustration second. Nothing competes with the designation itself.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signage is a language of navigation. The "SP" prefix marks the route as part of São Paulo's state highway network, and the number identifies one specific road within it. Pairing that code with the word Brazil anchors the piece to a particular place, so the design works as a small map reference for anyone who has driven, lived or dreamed about that stretch of road.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A tall, tapering vessel gives the sign a long, uninterrupted surface to wrap around. As the glass is lifted and turned, the designation passes across the eye in sequence, the way a road sign comes into view from a moving car. The design suits a glass that is held and rotated, rather than one that sits still on a shelf, and every turn brings the route back into view.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-404-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP404-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793725102
