sp-422-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-422 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-422 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-422 is a minimalist graphic piece that takes Brazil as its subject, reduced to a single designation with nothing around it.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is built on restraint. The alphanumeric identifier SP-422 carries the whole design, and the surrounding field stays clear of decoration. The result reads like a road sign: a short code set on a plain ground, meant to be recognised at a glance rather than studied. Nothing competes with the text, so the eye settles on the designation first and the country second.

Meaning & Symbolism

The piece draws its meaning from the link between a catalogue-style code and a national identity. Codes like SP-422 belong to systems of mapping and classification, so the design treats Brazil as a place that can be identified, indexed and named in a few characters. Its themes of geography, national identity and minimalism all point to that single act of identification, which is why the artwork feels deliberate rather than decorative.

Designed for the Hand

A pint glass is a surface you wrap your hand around and turn as you drink, so the design is seen in pieces as the glass moves. Each time it is lifted, the identifier comes round to meet you, and the clean layout holds its shape from every angle. Because the artwork is so spare, it suits a glass that is used every day: the message stays legible, and the glass gets passed around as a conversation starter for anyone who has a connection to Brazil.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-422-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP422-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793725732
