sp-439-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-439 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-439 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes the form of a road sign, with the code SP-439 set at its centre and Brazil named as its subject.

Visual Elements & Composition

The artwork is built on clean, uncluttered graphic elements with no decorative border or background filler. The SP-439 designation dominates the composition, so the numerals and lettering carry the design. Nothing competes with them, which gives the piece the direct, signage-like read that its title implies.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs work by identifying a route at a glance, and this design borrows that function. The "SP" prefix is the state code used on São Paulo's state highways, so the number points to a specific road in Brazil rather than to Brazil in general. Read this way, the piece celebrates Brazil's geography and everyday culture through the plain language of its roads.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read from a distance, but this design lives on a tall, curved surface that is turned in the hand. The lettering runs around the glass as it is lifted and tilted, so the code and place name are seen in fragments, the way a road is seen from a passing car. Because the glass tapers toward the base, the artwork narrows as it descends, keeping the numerals close to the eye when the glass is held.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-439-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP439-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793722572
