The numerals carry the design, so the eye reads the code first and the country second. Nothing else competes for attention, which keeps the sign direct and easy to read at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs are a language of navigation, telling a traveller where they are and where the road leads. The "SP" prefix is the abbreviation for São Paulo, one of Brazil's states, and it places this route within that state's road network. The design therefore stands for the everyday geography of Brazil: the roads that connect towns and regions, rather than a single monument or event.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read quickly from a moving vehicle, and this design works the same way on a glass: a clear read as the drink is poured or passed across the table. Wrapped around a tall, curved surface, the code stays in view whenever the glass is picked up. It is a small route marker for anyone with a favourite stretch of Brazil, or a journey they still talk about.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-453-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP453-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793726468
