Everything in the artwork points back to Brazil, and nothing competes with it for attention. The sign format gives the design its structure: a clear, direct arrangement that a viewer takes in at a glance, the way a driver reads a roadside marker. The reference code SP-456 is the design's own name and identifies the piece within its series.

Meaning & Symbolism

A road sign exists to tell you where you are and where you are heading. Pairing that format with Brazil turns the country into a destination, something to be navigated toward. The geographic theme of the design places the country on the map as the point of focus, so the artwork speaks to travel, distance and the pull of a place you have not yet been.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a vessel that gets lifted, tilted and shaken, and its design is seen from close range as it moves in the hand. The sign format suits that kind of handling. A marker that must be read quickly works well on an object held at arm's length and turned as the drink is poured. Each time the glass is lifted, the road sign and its destination come round into view.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-456-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP456-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793719268
