sp-553-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-553 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-553 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-553 is a clean, minimalist graphic that takes Brazil as its single subject and frames it in the form of a road sign.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is built on restraint. Nothing crowds the subject: the Brazil motif sits at the centre of the composition, and the surrounding space is left open, so the eye settles on one clear shape. The road-sign treatment gives the piece its structure, with a direct, signal-like layout that reads at a glance. The title's catalogue code, SP-553, identifies it as one entry in a series of international designs.

Meaning & Symbolism

Brazil is a country of enormous geography, from Amazon rainforest to Atlantic coastline, and a road sign is the most ordinary way a place announces itself to a traveller. Placing the country on that familiar format turns a national identity into a waymarker, a small statement that says where you are. The SP prefix is the standard abbreviation for São Paulo, the Brazilian state whose name anchors the code.

Designed for the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a tall, narrow vessel that is held and lifted, so the design is seen up close and turned slowly in the hand as the drink is poured. Its crystal-clear glass means the artwork is read through the surface of the vessel, with the road-sign image stacked against whatever is inside. Because the glass tapers toward the base, the design follows that line, and the sign becomes a waypoint for every pour.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-553-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP553-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793699809
