The outline is the strongest element, and it sits centred with an even margin on every side. Inside it, SP and 586 are set in a single column in a plain, sturdy typeface. Nothing is layered or shaded, and the contrast between the two colours carries the whole design, which keeps the image clean and easy to read at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The shape follows the route markers used on the roads of São Paulo state. SP is the state code, and 586 is the number given to one route in its network. Markers of this type exist so that drivers can identify a road quickly and without distraction, which is why they favour bold outlines and short codes. The artwork takes that utilitarian vocabulary and presents it as a modern piece of graphic design that signals Brazil.

A Small Sign for a Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the pentagon becomes a neat emblem seen up close rather than a sign seen from a distance. The straight edges of the marker contrast with the rounded body of the glass, and the bold numerals stay clear as the glass is turned in the hand. It is a compact way to carry a piece of Brazilian road design onto the table.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-586-brazil-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-SP586-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793815030
