White fills most of the image, about 86 percent, and black supplies the remaining 14 percent in the double outline of the pentagon and the lettering inside it. The shape is a pentagonal badge with a second, inner border, which gives the marker its clear, rule-bound silhouette. The characters SP, 6, 9 and 7 sit centred and read at a glance. Nothing decorative competes with them. The result is a simple, flat vector layout with no shading or ornament.

Meaning & Symbolism

A route marker exists to tell travellers where they are and which road they are on. Its pentagon, its prefix and its number form a code that a driver reads in passing, so the design carries the practical logic of wayfinding rather than sentiment. Here that logic belongs to São Paulo state, the Brazilian state whose roads the SP prefix identifies. The number 697 places this sign within that network, which is why the artwork reads as a regional, cataloged piece with a strong sense of place.

Designed for the Mug in Your Hand

A mug is turned slowly in the hand, so the sign is seen from many angles as you lift and set it down. The heat-reactive surface brings the route marker up as the drink warms, so the design arrives with your coffee rather than sitting fixed. Wrapped around the curve of the cup, the pentagon and its number stay legible, and the moment of reveal turns an ordinary morning into a small act of discovery.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-697-brazil-road-sign-color-changing-mug-11oz-GMY-MUG-SP697-11OZ-1FQZ7-front.webp?v=1793842428
