sp-751-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
SP-751 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-751 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

SP-751 takes its subject from a single catalogued designation, and it lets that designation do the talking.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is built on restraint. Its title numeral, SP-751, carries the weight of the piece, and the artwork avoids clutter entirely, leaving the code to stand on its own. The mood is neutral and the approach is systematic, so the eye reads the sequence of letters and figures as an ordered, deliberate arrangement rather than a scene.

Meaning & Symbolism

The themes here are national identity, geography and classification. "SP" is the abbreviation for São Paulo, one of Brazil's states, and the number follows the pattern of Brazilian state road designations, so the code points directly at a place and a route. Brazil is the subject, and the artwork frames the country through the language of maps and signage: a way of marking territory so that anyone can find their position within it. It is a quiet nod to how a nation is organised on paper and on the ground.

Built for the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is tall, narrow at the base and usually held in one hand while it is turned, so a design on it is read in pieces, one turn at a time. SP-751 suits that habit. Its code is short and self-contained, so it reads cleanly as the glass rotates in the hand. Give it to someone who likes their drinkware with a little route-planning behind it, and let the numbers do the navigating.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-751-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP751-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793694474
