White fills most of the field, roughly four-fifths of it, while black supplies the rest in a pentagon shield outline with a double border running around its edge. Inside the shield, the letters SP sit above the numerals 824 in bold black lettering. Nothing else competes for attention. The composition is centred and symmetrical, so the eye lands on the code straight away.

Meaning & Symbolism

A route marker is a piece of wayfinding shorthand. The letters name the state, and the number identifies one road among many, so a driver can follow a route without reading a single word of description. The Brazil reference here comes from that state code: SP stands for São Paulo, one of Brazil's most travelled regions. Stripped of ornament, the design treats a utilitarian sign as a small, confident emblem of place, which is why it reads as a clear identifier rather than a decorative flourish.

Designed for the Turn of the Hand

A mug is held and turned, so the shield gets seen from the side as well as head-on. The double border follows the curve of the cup and the lettering stays legible as the vessel rotates in the hand. Once warm, the design surfaces from the cup's colour-changing surface, so the route marker appears gradually as a drink is poured. It is a fitting match for a sign built to be read at a glance, and a gift for anyone who likes their travel and their coffee in one clear, cheeky shape.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-824-brazil-road-sign-color-changing-mug-11oz-GMY-MUG-SP824-11OZ-1FQRM-front.webp?v=1793841777
