The numerals and code do the work of the image, so the eye lands on them first and reads the rest of the sign around them. Nothing competes with that focal point, which gives the piece its plain, direct look.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs are functional: they tell a traveller where they are and where the route leads. The code follows Brazil's state highway numbering, with SP identifying the state of São Paulo and 833 the individual road. The design therefore carries a sense of place and navigation, turning an everyday piece of infrastructure into a souvenir of a particular Brazilian route.

Wrapped Around the Glass

A mixing glass is tall and narrow, so the sign sits on a curved surface that the eye follows from base to rim. Lifted to pour or stirred at the bar, the motif moves with the hand and reads as a continuous strip rather than a flat panel. It suits a gift for someone who has covered a few miles of Brazilian road, or who simply enjoys a bit of cheeky roadside humour at the drinks cabinet.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-833-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP833-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793695061
