White fills most of the field, and black forms the pentagonal outline border and the lettering. The figures are the focus: the letters SP and the numerals 8, 77 read together as one route number, with nothing competing for attention. The style is flat vector, with crisp edges and no shading, so the sign reads quickly, the way a route marker has to when it passes a driver at speed.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route markers are the quiet language of a road network. The SP prefix identifies a road in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and the number tells a traveller which route they are on. Lifting this everyday signage out of the roadside and presenting it as a design turns a functional object into a small portrait of how Brazil's roads are named and navigated. The minimal, utilitarian treatment reflects the modern era of traffic graphics, where clarity comes first.

On the Color Morphing Mug

A mug is turned in the hand, so the sign is encountered as it rotates, the pentagon's outline curving around the body of the cup. Fill it with something hot and the design emerges as the mug warms, the faint black and white marker resolving into full clarity. Each morning becomes a small reveal, a fitting touch for a gift for anyone who has ever found themselves lost on a long drive and in need of a good map and an even better cup of coffee.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-877-brazil-road-sign-color-changing-mug-11oz-GMY-MUG-SP877-11OZ-1FQT3-front.webp?v=1793841898
