The pentagon is outlined twice, the inner line set a short distance inside the outer, which gives the badge a bordered, official-looking frame. SP sits on top and 938 below, both in heavy block characters that dominate the shape. Nothing else is drawn, and the flat vector finish gives the marker hard, clean edges.

Meaning & Symbolism

The pentagon is the form of a state route shield, the sign that numbers roads so a driver can follow them across a network. SP is the abbreviation for the Brazilian state of São Paulo, and 938 is the route number that sets this marker apart from its neighbours. The piece honours Brazilian road signage by isolating the shield and its designation.

In the Hand

A mug is turned as it is lifted, so the pentagon crosses the eye from every side. The white ceramic ground keeps the black border and letters sharp, and the inner line stays readable as the cup rotates. On a desk, next to the first coffee of the morning, the badge reads as a small roadside marker set out for the day.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-938-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-SP938-11OZ-front.webp?v=1793831477
