The identifier sits at the centre of the artwork, and the letters and numerals do the work of the image without decoration around them. Nothing competes with the code itself, so the eye reads it first and the Brazil reference second. The overall mood is neutral: no emotional flourish, just a plain statement of the designation, rendered with the restraint of a sign meant to be read at a glance.

Meaning & the Road Sign Form

The title places the design in the tradition of road signage, where a short alphanumeric code tells a traveller exactly where they are. SP-960 works the same way: it is a reference point, not a story. Paired with Brazil, it marks the artwork as belonging to a regional identity, a way of recognising a place through its own system of designations. For anyone who knows the code, the design reads as a shorthand for that place and its identifiers.

Carried on a Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a tall, tapering vessel that is turned in the hand while it is poured, stirred or sipped from, so the artwork wraps a curved surface that is seen from every side as it moves. Because the glass narrows toward its base, a graphic like this one reads differently at the top and the bottom of the wall of glass. A short code suits that treatment well: it stays legible as the glass turns, and it sits on the object the way a sign sits on a post, something to read whenever the glass is picked up.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/sp-960-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SP960-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793692805
